Adam Byatt

Trinity/London & Bistro Union/Clapham

Best London Restaurant / GBM 2013

Adam Byatt is one of London's most successful chefs and now runs three very different restaurants. The likeable Briton found his place in the heart of gourmets by rediscovering classic dishes and giving down-to-earth and simple dishes a unique elegance. His enthusiasm for high-quality products is reflected in the use of exquisite regional products and his preference for cooking and eating together with family and friends. If you ask him whether he prefers to be an entrepreneur or a chef, he answers with “both” and adds that his time in the kitchen is still the special momentum for him. As soon as he pulls the apron over his head, he is in another world.

Apron

Werkbeitrag

Adam Byatt's work allows visitors to relive the interplay of everyday stress and immersion and the associated freedom in the kitchen. A walk-in room installation with more than 200 light boxes will be played with corresponding sounds and images during the exhibition. Visitors walk through a very narrow corridor with lots of light boxes. The claustrophobic atmosphere is supported by a composed sound installation. This is how they get into a room where they symbolically pull a cooking apron over their heads and the world stands still for a brief moment. This space is designed as meditatively as the momentum that Byatt feels when putting on the apron. He then shows himself to visitors in slow motion videos, where you can watch him at work.
