Jens Rittmeyer has always been inspired by the sea. For many years, he enjoyed cooking on the cliffs of Portugal and “filled” his guests' plates with delicacies from Neptune's empire before he was called to Sylt from 2010 to 2016. For the agile and creative star chef, the power of water and the vastness of the sea are the source of his inspiration and clarity of thought and action.

The sea, its power and the treasures from the sea are also the common thread for Rittmeyer's contribution to the work. In an elaborate three-part installation, images and videos are projected onto water columns and the movements of the sea and the interplay of waves with the sand are staged. In picturesque transitions, the initially cloudy water columns repeatedly reveal a picture and alternately show the finest culinary creations from Rittmeyer's kitchen world and moving pictures of nature of Sylt. His source of inspiration is therefore directly related to his dishes and his environment.
