Johnnie Mountain

The English Pig / London

Johnnie Mountain found his true calling in 1994 when he began working in restaurant kitchens. It suddenly became clear to him that this is where he belongs, and only here. In 1995, Johnnie became sous chef at Café Dell Ugo and worked with the famous Alastair Little. At the beginning of the turn of the millennium, he opened “The English Pig” in “Atrium SW1 in Westminster” and is also recognized by his harshest critics as an “exceptional chef” because he is passionate about what he does. And because Johnnie is very concerned about nutrition in schools, he launched the 'Schools Found Council' project at Noel Park Primary School and has been inspiring children and young people with his direct and passionate way of talking about healthy food ever since.

Deeply rooted in the bottomless — the Briton polarizes and unites like hardly any other chef in the UK. Every day, he explores the line between genius and madness, searches for and finds extremes, consciously exposes himself to them in order to prove to himself (and to those around him) that he is stronger than “it.” In 13 video and photo installations spread across the exhibition, Johnnie takes visitors on a journey of discovery about himself and provides deep insights into his world “snippet” by “snippet” and at the same time hints at his temporary conflict. Visitors access over 13 QR Codes, which concerns, drives and inspires the exceptional chef.
